There is nothing better than Penn State during the first warm days of spring. The sun is shining. The birds are singing. The beer is flowing. The skin is showing!
No one can deny that the best part of spring is that, after months of being hidden under Michelin Man padding, your epidermis is out and everyone is happy. Skirts and dresses and shorts, oh my! Tanks and shades and even clothes for the guys!
Corny rhymes aside, I LOVE this time of year. East Halls is filled with bikini clad freshman and sand volleyball enthusiasts and that one really smart guy who inevitably shows up with a puppy. Café 210 is packed with people, all fighting for chairs and brews and that coveted front row of tables that teases the under-agers and engineering majors who can’t afford to blow off class. Thomas’ once-filled lecture halls now provide an ample choice of seating. There are no spare squares of grass; from the HUB lawn, to the Pollock quads, to the front of the Dorito church, sun-bathers are out in full swing…even if it’s not exactly tanning weather.
Term papers are piling up and exams are not yet a thing of the past but it’s truly hard to care when the weather turns warm. And to be perfectly honest, this rant would be a lot longer, but I don’t have the patience to sit at my laptop when I could be out soaking up the sun! And really, what are you all doing sitting inside reading this? Grab a Frisbee…or a beer…whatever, just go outside!
