What Does the Party Planner Do?"
In its current form, the PSU PARTY PLANNER is a complete online pricing and ordering guide for state college liquor stores. It allows users to browse the complete array of liquor store inventories, including products, pricing, and specials. It also allows users to create dynamic printable orders, by adding and removing items, maintaining a running total with tax, and managing an overall budget. The PSU PARTY PLANNER also offers a complete guide to state college bar specials, a guide to drink recipes, games and party themes, and a business directory for all of your party needs.
More importantly, we continue to work closely with all local distributors and bottle shops, and will soon offer complete and dynamic inventory listings for these businesses. Many distributors/bottle shops are waiting to first hear feedback from the student body, and the results from our initial release, prior to uploading their inventories. Make sure to ask them what they are waiting for !?!
By Fall 2007, we expect the PSU PARTY PLANNER to be one of the most widely used social tools among PSU students. Even in its current form, we believe that online wine and liquor inventory with the ability to create, save and print orders will bring a new level of convenience and efficiency to the PSU social scene.
"How To's" of the PSU Party Planner?
- LOG IN: Most links will prompt you to register/log in. Please do so. We require you to log in so that we can save your progress.
- CREATE A NEW PLANNER: After logging in, click on “Create New Party Planner.” The system will allow you to name your planner, which will allow you to recall it/duplicate it at a later date.
- RECALL OLD PLANNER: If you would like to pull up an old planner, either to view it, continue working/adding to it, or duplicate it, you can use the “Recall Old Planner” function.
- SHOPPING: Once you are logged in and have created/recalled a party planner order, you can now browse numerous local business product inventories. Please click on Distributors, Wine & Sprits, or Bottle Shops, followed by the particular business you would like to view.
- INVENTORY Sub-CATEGORIES: The red toggle links will allow you to shop between sub-categories of a particular business inventory.
- ADDING AN ITEM: To add items to your planner, simply type the quantity number in the designated field and click UPDATE. The system allows you update multiple items at one time, but they must be within the same category. Before leaving a section (i.e. Kegs), you will want to update your selections.
- PLANNER SUMMARY PAGE: Each time you add an item to your planner, the system will show you a summary. To continue shopping, simply continue navigating through that businesses toggle categories.
- CONTINUE SHOPPING – CHANGE BUSINESS: It is impossible to lose your planner. To continue shopping, but change businesses, use the navigation at the top or bottom of the page by clicking Distributors, Wine & Spirits, or Bottle Shops. You will notice that your Party Planner Totals box will remain consistent throughout your shopping experience.
- BROWSING A DIFFERENT BUSINESS: The system allows you to shop and add items to your planner from as many businesses as you would like. Your planner WILL NOT be lost by switching from a Distributor over to Wine & Spirits, or from one Distributor to another, as an example.
- DONE SHOPPING – PRINT MY ORDER: When you have completed your party planner, you may click “Done, Print My Party Planner”. Your planner will open in a separate window, and allow for easy printing. Please bring your order with you for pickup, to get your VIP Card Stamped.
- DUPLICATE A PLANNER: Let’s say that you had a St. Patrick’s day party last year (2006) that you used the PSU Party Planner for. The system not only allows you to pull up that old order to view, but you can “Duplicate the Planner”, name it St. Partricks 2007, and change or add to the existing choices. A duplicated order will also reflect any price or item updates that have taken place in the system over the past year.
- SPLIT ORDER: If multiple individuals are contributing to the total, the system offers a convenient “Order Splitting” calculation tool. Simply enter the number of individuals and allow the system the calculate.
- ORDER DISCOUNTS: This field allows a user to input a discount amount that will be deducted from the planner total. If you are aware of a discount that you receive from a particular business due to quantity, please calculate the total and enter it into this field.
What are VIP Cards?
This card provides incentive for users to always print their party planners once complete, and bring them in to each respective business. Doing so allows your VIP Card to be stamped. Once the card is full, you will win free prizes/gifts/merchandise. Click on the link at the top of each page to read more about the PSU Party Planner VIP card. Please be advised that VIP Cards are not yet active.
What free stuff do I get with my VIP Card?
Giveaway items can change from week to week, as the business sees fit. Please check the “VIP Card” link on the PSU Party Planner to identify applicable giveaway items.
What is the PP Cheat Sheet?
This is a helpful page created by our staff. The link can be found at the top of each page, and provides helpful information about local liquor laws, as well as a table of product sizes.
Can I ORDER ONLINE for Pick Up?
At this point NO. The PSU Party Planner only offers a tool for students to plan their parties, and print out an organized list of their choices. We do not currently offer any online ordering/payment services online. That said, we plan to offer it in the near future.
How Accurate is the Pricing? What happens if there is a price discrepancy when I get to the business?
Our team works very closely with all of our participating businesses to continuously update specials, products and pricing. That said, the PSU Party Planner is to serve as a helpful tool, and is in a no way a definitive or binding price arrangement. Participating businesses are not obligated to honor ANY price discrepancies that may appear on the PSU Party Planner.
Why Don’t All Local Distributors/Bottle Shops participate?
Our team will not rest until we have active participation from ALL local distributors and bottle shops in state college. Clearly, this will create the most useful tool to our users, but it takes time. How can you help us??? When you are purchasing from a business who does not yet participate on the Party Planner, ask them why!! We need YOUR help in order to bring the Party Planner to its maximum potential.
Does the “Party Directory” and “Recipes & Games” sections require separate logins/accounts from the PSU Party Planner?
Yes. The Party Directory and Recipes & Games sections are sub-sections of the party planner. Users may browse their content without logging in, but must log in to that particular area of the site if they wish to add content.
Why do I have to log in?
We require a log in so that you can save and view your order history for later use.
